A Journey of Prayer for my Children

Day 1- Kindness... giving up something for the benefit of another.

Join me on a morning journey where we can dive in, together, and pray for our children. I am using the book While they were Sleeping by Anne Arkins and Gary Harrell as a guide.

Luke 10:34-35
34
He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, took him to an inn and took care of him. 35The next day he took out two silver coins and gave them to the innkeeper. 'Look after him,' he said, 'and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.'

Father, may each be willing to give of themselves to help a person in need.
May they not only see the needs of others but act upon these needs in a sacrificial way.
Deliver them from holding tightly to their own possessions or any bondage therein.
Give them a willingness to share what they have with others.
May they see in me a willingness to give to those in need.

1 John 3:16-18
16This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers.
17If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him?
18Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.

Gracious Father; open their heart to know the real love of Jesus' gift of salvation.
Help them be willing to give of themselves for others.
May they be sensitive to see ways they can meet the needs of the people around them.
Help them to love others not only in words.

S-hare my gifts with others.
E-ncourage by speaking words of hope and love.
R-eceive by accepting, believing, and noting competence.
V-alidate by showing gratitude and thankfulness for their kindnesses.
E-xercise by doing for them.

This prayer time is from While they were Sleeping by Anne Arkins and Gary Harrell
