Reflecting on Revelation (3 of 9)

And further in chapter eight and then in chapter nine, the second round of the three judgments began. “The seven trumpets.”

Six out of seven trumpets were blown. As each trumpet was blown, God poured out His anger of sin on the men who continue to reject Him.

The judgments included fire mixed with blood falling from the heavens, a third of the seas turned to blood, a third of the rivers were made bitter, a third of the sun, moon, and stars were darkened causing a third of the day and night to be without any light, stinging locusts tormented the people for five months, and death came from four angels who were released from the Euphrates River killing a third of the peoples.

In chapter ten, an angel gave John a little scroll and told him to eat it and to remain silent about its message. Just like that message, there is so much that we do not know, and may never know, but He, God, is still in charge. He is just and He is good. And, some day those who choose Him will be with Him forever and all things will be made right.

In chapter eleven, two special witnesses are chosen so that the gospel would continue to be spread. After the two witnesses are persecuted, killed, resurrected, and ascended, the seventh trumpet was blown. This seventh trumpet announced that “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ.” At that moment, John saw God’s temple in heaven opened and the actual ark of the covenant was seen.
