Reflecting on Revelation (1 of 9)

This winter, I had the blessing and treat of taking our preteen Questors through the book of Revelation. We had approximately ten students committed to the study. I have never, without distraction, completed and reflected on the book in this fashion. In hopes to not lose any of the goodness that God shared with me, I shall seek to give a snapshot in the following posts, the lessons that I gained. This is truly intended to be a snapshot and I encourage you to dive and read for yourself. There is much detail that you will discover. These details are obviously critical and will paint a powerful description. I pray that this snapshot will be a blessing for you, as well.

In the first chapter, the Revelation of Jesus Christ is given by God through His angel to John. The angel came to John while he was imprisoned on the isle of Patmos in order to show him the future. In chapters two and three, John was told to send the Revelation to the seven churches in Asia. Each church was also told the good and bad things they were doing. They were promised blessings if they repented. They were given a warning of what would happen if they ignored the instruction.

In chapters four and five, John was brought into the throne room where he encountered the presence of our Creator and Redeemer. God was holding out a scroll that could only be opened by one who was worthy. At last, our Redeemer-Jesus, the Lamb of God, stepped before the throne. In chapter six, the tribulation on earth begins. On the scroll, six out of seven seals were removed. As each seal was removed, God poured out His anger of sin on men who continue to reject Him. Great torment came upon the earth.
